He and Faymia Sullivan were married in Seattle on July 22, 1929. They came to the Kittitas Valley in the 1930s and lived in Kittitas for a time. They moved in 1942 to the Thorp Area, established their ranch and raised registered cattle.
Mr. Callahan was employed in Roslyn coal mines for many years and later was employed at Central Washington University. He was a member of the Thorp Community Church, the Kittitas County Cattlemen's Association and had been active in the 4-H Club program as a club leader for many years.
His wife, Faymia, preceded him in death in 1957. He and Jennie Fuls were married in Seattle on Aug. 30, 1958.
Survivors in addition to his wife Jennie, at the home, include one son, Donald, Ellensburg; two daughters, Marie Maines, Vancouver, B.C., and Doris Murphy, Seattle; one step-daughter, Betty Zerheyden, Whidbey Island; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Alice Wagner, Mt. Vernon, and Joy Keene, Seattle.
