Jack H. Bannister, 87 of Amanda Lane, Cartersville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017.
Mr. Bannister was born September 23, 1929, son of the late Robert Guy Bannister and Linnie Ott Bannister. He graduated from Tyner High School in Chatanooga, TN and served three Tours of Duty in the United States Army. He retired from the United States Postal service.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Fay Etta Mills Bannister and his second wife, Yvonne Lankford Bannister.
Survivors include his two sons, Robert G. Bannister (Debbie) and Jack L. Bannister (Kathy); daughter, Stephanie Thornton (James); Grandchildren; Jeremy Ray (Jennifer), Mylinda Amos (Jimmy), Amberly Bannister, Kimberly Gauntt, Justin Bannister (Christi), James (Jase) Oscar Thornton V, Lilie Kate Thornton, and Chandler Harrison. Great Grandchildren; Kaylee, Lilly and Jaxon Gauntt, Paisley Henson, Peyton and Prelsey Ray, Fay and Tatyana Bannister, and Hudson Amos.
A Graveside Service for Mr. Bannister will be held Monday, January 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. EST at Chattanooga Memorial Park, 501 Memorial Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37415. The family will receive friends at Owen Funeral Home, Cartersville, Sunday, January 8, 2017 from five until seven in the evening.
Pallbearers include Jeremy Ray, Justin Bannister, Gary Mills, Jimmy Amos, Stevie Martin and Rick Cash. James (Jase) Oscar Thornton V will be serving as an honorary pallbearer.
