Only son of Johann Caspar Friedrich Wegner and Anna Catharina Maria Moller.
Immigrated to the United States in 1867, arriving at Castle Garden on the tip of Manhattan. Married Christine Seegers, also a German immigrant. They lived in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY until the late 1800s, when they re-located to Hoboken and later, Jersey City.
