Richgels, Henry "Jack'

Henry "Jack" Richgels, born January 5, 1925, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, passed away quietly at Castle Rock Care Center in Castle Rock, Colorado on December 11, 2014.

Jack grew up in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, attended Lincoln High School graduating in 1943. He joined the Navy, attended Notre Dame and Great Lakes Naval base and then dispatched to serve on USS Whale and USS Sea Owl, Submarine Service during WWII 1943-1948. After the war, Jack married his childhood kindergarten sweetheart, Mary Flannagan in Manitowoc. They moved to Madison Wisconsin area, where Jack completed advanced degrees at University Wisconsin in a new field of Geophysics Research and Development in the 1950s. This new specialized field of early oil research and development took Jack and Mary and their growing family on 22 moves all over western U.S. and to the North Slope of Alaska working with Standard Oil of California for 25 years. Jack and his family enjoyed fishing and the outdoors everywhere they lived. Jack and Mary retired to Colorado mountain views in 1980 and enjoying their many wonderful years gardening, camping and fishing in the mountains and traveling to visit family and friends.

Jack leaves behind his three sons, Jeff, Jerry, Chris (Sheila) and a daughter Ellen; three grandchildren, Jonathan, Missy and Randy; a sister Mary; sister-in-law; Mary and nieces and nephews.

Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his parents, Harry and Ellen J Richgels; brother and sister-in law, Jim and Audrey Richgels; and a brother; Gene Richgels.

A memorial service will be held late spring 2015.
