She then entered the convent of the Sisters of St. Francis in Aston and was professed as Sister Marie William. While a Franciscan nun, she earned a bachelor's degree from Mercy College in Pittsburgh and worked in the records department of St. Joseph Hospital in Towson, Md. She left the order in 1974.
A Gwynedd faculty member from 1978 until retiring in 1996, she taught health-education courses and was the first director of the Health Management Program at the college. She had a master's degree in health education from Beaver College, now Arcadia College.
She was founder and former president of the Lehigh Valley Health Information Management Association and was former president of the Delaware Health Information Management Association and the Pennsylvania State Medical Records Association.
She volunteered in the medical records department at Immaculate Mary Nursing Home in Northeast Philadelphia and the Souderton Mennonite Home and for many years taught religious-education classes in Catholic parishes in Willow Grove and Philadelphia.
Shw enjoyed traveling. She loved to take her dog on car trips to New England.
She was survived by her sister, Therese Finley, and by nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass was offered at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church.
