Dorothy Lee Hughes, 70, of the 1600 block of Newland Road died Oct. 29, 1996, in Chesapeake Health Care Center.

A native of Robeson County, N.C., Mrs. Hughes was a member of Unity Freewill Baptist Church, Chesapeake, and a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Lovelace W. Hughes Sr.; children, Barbara and J.T. Pritchard, Susan and Earl Lee and Robert and Molly Alfred, all of Virginia Beach, and Wilton and Sharon Hughes of Chesapeake; four sisters, Edna Doughty, Lorena Williams and Marion Morgan, all of Chesapeake, and Ellona Williams of Rocky Mount, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Earl Sutton. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today in Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, and ask that memorials be made to Unity Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, 1006 Bellingham Ct., Chesapeake, Va. 23322.
