Erla Abbott, 84 years old of Lindenhurst, IL, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 at NorthShore University Health System Highland Park Hospital. She was born October 31, 1932 in Clyde, NY, the daughter of the late Earl and Edith (nèe Roberts) Breen. On October 16, 1956, she married Keith Emmons Abbott in Pennsylvania and he preceded her in death on March 10, 2012. Erla had several part-time positions and volunteered in the community throughout the years, but her primary focus was always on home and family. Erla will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others in any way she could. She loved shopping, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and spoiling her pet kitties. Her home was always a welcoming place. She was the heart of the family.
Erla is survived by her children, Diane Dzurilla of Medina, OH, Keith Michael (Agnes Catherine) Abbott of Fox Lake, IL, Richard Allen Abbott of Lindenhurst, IL, and Dr. Robert Emmons (Kimberly) Abbott of St. Louis, MO; her six grandchildren, Apryl (Billy) McCoy, Anthony Dzurilla, Douglas Dzurilla, Nathan Abbott, Anthony Payton Abbott, and Cloe Abbott; and her three great-grandchildren, Aiya, Ami, and Ari.
Funeral Services and interment were private in Millburn Cemetery, Old Mill Creek, IL.
