Billie Ray Davis, 53, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died unexpectedly Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at his home.

Born May 28, 1963, in Jonestown, MS, Billie Ray was the son of McKinley and Ruby Lee Davis. He attended Waterloo High School, leaving high school and completing his GED prior to his graduating class. Billie enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in multiple locations around the world. On July 29, 1999, he married Phyllis Virginia Newman in Waterloo, IA.

After being honorably discharged from the Army, Billie worked for a variety of businesses including Whirlpool in Amana, ACCIONA in West Branch, and Motorola in Mt. Pleasant. He attended Southeastern Community College and graduated with a degree in electronics and a second degree in electro-mechanical specialization. For the next several years, he used his new skills in his career.

Billie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid movie buff, liked to travel, and enjoyed RV camping. He was an exceptional chef when using the barbeque grill and delighted in treating friends and family with his specialty of ribs and chicken.

Along with his wife, Phyllis of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Billie is survived by two children, Cameron Davis and Olivia Davis, both of Mt. Pleasant, IA; four step-children, Amber (Joe) Keagle of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Amy Hill of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Jason Hill of Kansas City, KS, and Jared Hill of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and four siblings, McKinley Davis, Jerry Davis, Mary Ann Davis and Tammy Jones.

Billie was preceded in death by his parents.
