Elvie Elizabeth Albanese, age 77, of Milford, Delaware, while surrounded by family, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware.
Elvie was born in Wilmington, Delaware, to the late Elvie Elizabeth and Hugh Morris Sr.. Elivie was married for 47 years to the love of her life, the late Thomas J. Albanese Sr. . They raised their family in Wilmington and moved to Lewes and then Milford, DE. after Tom retired.
Elvie was a lively, caring, feisty woman right up until the day she left. When asked to describe her in one word, her grandchildren said she was: strong, beautiful, electric, sassy and empathetic. She was a free-spirited, independent woman who enjoyed life to the fullest. Whether she was out dancing with her friends, shopping or spending time at the beach with her family, she was always the life of the party. She loved nothing more than making memories with her family. Her amazing personality continued to shine even in her final days.
In addition to her parents, Elvie is predeceased by her brothers, Hugh Jr., Walter, and James Morris; her sisters Annabelle Howett and Louise Miller. She is survived by her five children; Paula Albanese Campbell (Doug), Thomas Albanese Jr.(Barbara), Susan Maynard (Doug), Frances Matthews (William), and Frank & late wife Daniele, her 11 grandchildren, Nicole (Robert), Beau Jason "BJ" (Pamela), Melissa (Darren), Jennifer (Joseph), Christin (James), Jeffrey, Michael (Allyson), Andrew, Clayton (Helena), Leah (Chris), and Tamaron (David). She was also adored by five great grandchildren, Anjoli, Hailey Paige, Jace, Alan Joseph, and Andelyn. Elvie is also survived by her siblings Paul Morris (Dolly ), Charles Morris (Patricia) and Harriet Hale (Tom).
A Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Monday, January 23, 2017 at the Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. A prayer service will be held at 11:00 AM at the funeral home and the Entombment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, 2400 Lancaster Ave, Wilmington, DE.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice House, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
