Alice was my Mom's closest sister. We lives on the same street in Dalton and stayed at both place. She was married
to Ralph Cheek when she was 14. Daughter Betty was born in 1937 and died 2009 in Dalton, GA. 2nd daughter Patricia died Feb 5, 2015.
On Easter Sunday morning, April 1, 1956, She and her Father were to meet us at the Sunrise Service. Papa Green was staying with her and was blind from diabetes. He accidentally knocked over a kerosene heater on the way to take a bath and hollered for her. Alice was able to reach him and try to get them out. Both died of smoke Inhalation.
Aunt Alice treated me like another daughter and took me to Church with her regularly. She was a great Christian and a wonderful Mother.
A couple of years before her death she married Fred Powell.
