Date of birth from the family Bible of Teter Nave transcribed by Robert T. Nave in 1948. At that time the Bible was in the possession of Mrs. Maggie Fletcher Nave, widow of James S. Nave, Doe Avenue, Elizabethton, TN.

Settled in Carter Co. TN before the War Between the States and was conscripted into the Confederate Army during the War and served a year before he deserted and fled home. Moved to Indiana after the War and was a schoolteacher for many years.

Date of birth, wife's name, and date of marriage from family Bible. In the Bible was a marriage certificate where the marriage was performed by Justice Phob. J. Alen at the brides home. Another Bible contained the actual marriage certificate and gives the date of 1 Oct 1848 at the Brides home. Justice Robert J. Alen performed the ceremony.
