Obituary

Vera Mae Liepitz (88) of Downey, CA passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2009. Born April 17, 1921 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of Harry Jay & Elva Waite and the second oldest of seven children.

After graduating from Bradford Hospital School of Nursing, PA, she married Russ Jacoby and moved to San Diego, CA. were she worked at Rees-Stealy medical clinic. Widowed at 26, she married Frederick (Fritz) Liepitz in 1949 with whom she had three children.

From 1962 to 1969, the family lived in Dunsmuir, CA, and Vera worked at Weed Convalescent Hospital and Mt. Shasta Community Hospital. Moving to Downey, CA, she was on the staff of Downey Community Hospital for ten years, leaving to care for her husband until his death in February 1985.

Surviving family members include, children; grandchildren; great grandchildren; siblings; preceded in death by parents and younger brothers, Emerson, Paul & Ivan. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery, San Diego. Donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.
