He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict and was then in the Naval Reserves for 26 years before retiring as Commander. Lloyd was a Math Teacher at Burlington High School from 1956 until 1960. He was the Principal at Shorewood High School from 1965 until 1976 and then Superintendent of Schools in Random Lake until 1986. He received his Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Educational Administration at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was a former member of Cross Lutheran Church, Peace Lutheran Church, and Bohners Lake Improvement Association. He was a member of the University of Wisconsin Alumni Association and served on the National Association of Secondary School Principals. Lloyd was an avid golfer and fisherman and enjoyed traveling.
Surviving are his wife, Karen Geiken of Burlington; daughter, Nancy Geiken of Milwaukee; son, Paul Geiken of Burlington; mother, Elsie Geiken Lewellen of Burlington; one brother, 'Fritz' (Merry) Geiken of Burlington; two sisters, Betty (Dale) Brummet of Blairsville, Ga. and Lois (Mel) Bickel of Venice, Fla.; one brother-in-law, John (Sue) Fritsche of Franksville; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob Geiken.
Memorial services will be held at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home on Thursday, May 24, 2001, at 7 p.m. with Rev. Rich Heins officiating. Interment will be private at the Southeran Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:30 until 7 p.m. Memorials to Burlington School District appreciated.
