Harriet Auber was a hymn composer. She wrote the words of most famous hymn by scratching the words on the bedroom window of her home on Amwell Sreet, Hoddesdon. Harriet Auber wrote Our Blest Redeemer,ere He Breathed while thinking over the sermon she had heard that morning. She had no pen or paper and not wanting to lose the inspiration, she scratched on a pane of glass in the room the first lines of the hymn.
