Shelly was born April 11, 1973, at Hutchinson Community Hospital, the daughter of John and Mary Ann (Zuehl) Teubert. She was baptized into the Christian faith April 29, 1973, by Pastor Arthur Rasch at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. Her baptismal sponsors were LaJean Hoof, Margie Herrmann, and Albert "Sonny" Teubert.
Shelly was confirmed in her faith April 12, 1987, by Pastor William Metzger, also at St. Paul's. Her confirmation verse was Joshua 1:9 "Be strong and courageous, do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
Shelly attended kindergarten through 12th grade at Lester Prairie Public School, where she participated in volleyball, basketball and softball. She graduated with the Lester Prairie High School class of 1991.
She furthered her education by attending Southwest State University in Marshall, for two years, and then transferred to Ridgewater College in Hutchinson, where she earned a practical nursing degree in 1998, and registered nursing degree in 2002.
Shelly gave birth to her daughter, Desiree, Sept. 25, 1995. Shelly loved to snuggle with Desiree, her pride and joy, and would often sing to her, "You are my Sunshine."
Shelly was united in marriage to Jeff Liestman May 8, 2004, at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, where she was currently a member.
Shelly cherished the time spent with her friends and family, especially her daughter, Desiree. She was Desiree's best friend and biggest cheerleader.
Shelly's day always started with a good cup of coffee, in fact the coffee shop always knew just what she wanted. She would often tell Desiree, "I love you more than coffee" to emphasize just how much she loved her.
Shelly enjoyed family traditions, including impromptu birthday parties at Unhinged Pizza. She had a very close relationship with her parents and sisters, and especially liked to show her nieces and nephew a good time.
Shelly worked most of her nursing career as a nurse manager at the Hutchinson Health Inpatient Mental Health Unit in Hutchinson. She was very passionate about her career, and her work family was a very important part of her life. She also worked at area hospice and home health care agencies, and was honored to care for others.
Shelly had an outgoing bubbly personality with a contagious smile that could light up a room. She had a zest for life, and she loved to have fun. Music and dancing brought her great pleasure.
The lake was her happy place, where she would often spend time with her family and friends, and she loved to fish and soak up warm sunshine. She also enjoyed going to garage sales and playing bingo.
Shelly was always up for a refreshing Bloody Mary and patio music at Floyd's. She previously rode a Harley, and had hopes to someday own a purple Harley with ape handlebars. For her, "the journey was everything."
Shelly is survived by her beloved daughter, Desiree Teubert of Perham; parents, John and Mary Ann Teubert of Lester Prairie; sisters, Tammy Diehn and her husband, Allen, of Arlington, and Kari Schurmann and her husband, Mark, of New Germany; nephew Jesse Diehn and his wife, Karla, of Fairfax; nieces Caressa Barth and her husband, Jake, of Winsted, and Bethany Diehn of Gaylord; great nephews and nieces, River, Jaelynn, Brooklyn, Natalie, Oakley, Lili, Jack, Henri, and William; and godchildren, Bethany Diehn, and Lili Schurmann.
