LANCASTER - Mary Frances "Ida" Gaffney, 101, of Highland Avenue, died Saturday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital. Born Jan. 9, 1895, in Knox County, she was a daughter of the late David and Mary Ann Littrell Chadwell. She was a homemaker, a member of Lawson's Chapel United Methodist Church and the widow of Harrison Gaffney. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ada Dailey. Survivors include five sons, William C. Gaffney of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., W.H. Gaffney of Garrard County, and James Alfred Gaffney, Clay Woodford Gaffney and Ralph Ray Gaffney, all of Lancaster; four daughters, Marietta Harkreader of Bryan, Texas, Lucille Oxendine of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and Clara Jean Lister and Shirley Virginia Scully, both of Lancaster; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Rev. Daryl Hodge. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today.
