Ethel was born in Albany, Indiana, to Ida (Kaufman)Collins, second of four daughters, second child of six children. She was raised in Albany IN, She had three sisters and two brothers; Glee Hazel, Lena Doris, Naomi Frances, Everett Clifford, Blaine Robert.
She met Lawrence Gaither, and then married him on Jan 3, 1920, in Fairmount, IN. They had their first child, Virginia Ruth in 1922, then their second child, Richard Eugene in 1925.
Her health began to fail in the late 1920's and early 1930's, On August 29, 1936, The Good Lord called her to His Heavenly Home.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence, children; Virginia, 13, Richard 9,, father and stepmother, Frank and Georgia Collins,sisters, Glee, Lena, Naomi, Brothers, Everett and Blaine and their spouses, several nieces and nephews.
Preceded her in death, her mother, Ida (Kaufman) Collins, and Grandfather Lewis Collins.

She was a member in good standing of the Alexandria Nazarene Church.
