A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Buteaux passed away at 10:35 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at his residence.
Mr. Buteaux was a loving husband, father and “Paw Paw.” He was employed at Pelican Creamery for 23 years, owner of the Boiling Point for four years and a commercial fisherman for over 30 years. He loved playing softball and was one of the first players inducted into the Louisiana Softball Hall of Fame in 2004. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids. He was loved by many and will be missed greatly.
Mr. Buteaux is survived by his wife of 53 years, Geraldine Buteaux of New Iberia; four sons Louis Buteaux Jr. and Jenny of New Iberia, Rod Buteaux and Valerie of Rocklin, Calif., Todd Buteaux and Rina of Los Angeles and Jonas Buteaux and Sara of Youngsville; three daughters Michele Harris and Paul of Arlington, Texas, Cheri Metcalf and Herman of Sopchoppy, Fla., and Nicole Buteaux Perez of New Iberia; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three sisters Theresa Louviere, Shirley Vidrine and Mary Ann Buteaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Theresa Clement Buteaux; one brother Gerald Buteaux; one sister Irene LeMaire; one granddaughter Chelsey Marie Perez; and one grandson Ryan Louis Perez.
Pallbearers will be Lucas Durocher, Alex Durocher, Beau Buteaux, Dex Buteaux, Blake Prince and Joseph Landry. Roy Poche will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
