Charles L. Laux, age 72, of Pleasant Lake, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at his residence.

Mr. Laux was born on November 30, 1944, in Huntington, Indiana, to the late Robert and Pauline (Shuman) Laux.

He graduated from Columbia City High School and then continued his education at Saint Francis University in Fort Wayne.

Mr. Laux served his country honorably with the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he was also stationed for three years.

Charlie worked as a laborer for B.F. Goodrich in Fort Wayne for 26 years and then worked for Cooper Tire, from where he retired. He also had a side job of laying carpet in the surrounding area.

On December 31, 2006, he married Shearon Baldwin at Norris Chapel United Methodist Church in Auburn. Charlie loved camping and camped at the Happy Acres campground in Angola. At the campground, he enjoyed mowing and hosting hayrides. He had an interest in farming and helped as farm hand when he was growing up.

Survivors include his spouse, Shearon "Sherri" Laux of Pleasant Lake; daughters Tonya Rothgeb of Fort Wayne and Amy Shinners of Fort Wayne; son John and Christina Laux of Warsaw; stepdaughters Marsha Baldwin and Vergel Hasselschwert of Cecil, Ohio, Robin Baldwin of Grabill, Heide and Jason Sampson of Stockport, Ohio, Sheryl and Bob Carr of Waterloo, New York, Cassandra L. Parkerson of Fort Wayne, Gavriel Ben-Tsvulun of Fort Wayne, Nina Ben-Tsvulun of Fort Wayne and Danielle Ben-Tsvulun of Fort Wayne; granddaughters Jessica Bjorklund of Fort Wayne and Charlee Rothgeb of Fort Wayne; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother John and Joanne Laux of Brookfield, Wisconsin; sisters Susie and Bob Hudson of Fort Wayne and Judy and Rod Powell of Fort Wayne; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bobby Laux.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Post #0031, 1760 W. Maumee St., Angola, with calling one hour prior from 10-11 a.m.

Burial will take place on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Marion National Cemetery in Marion.

Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Ken Jackson.
Memorial donations may be directed to American Legion Post #0031.

Arrangements are entrusted to Northern Indiana Funeral Care of Fort Wayne.
