Gustave Charles Wellinger, Jr., 85, of Southgate, MI, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 24, 2017. Born in Tarentum, PA, preceded in death by his parents, Gustave Sr. and Mary (Brashear) Wellinger. Survived by his wife of 65 years, Patsy (Davis), sons Dennis (Mary) and Richard (Jill), grandsons Anthony and Christopher (Alison) and granddaughter Amanda, brother William (Marlene). A 1949 graduate of Wilbur Wright high school in Detroit, served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War, retired from Michigan Bell in 1983 after a 30-year career. Actively involved in the Riverview and Southgate Posts of the American Legion as well as the Southgate Moose Lodge. Private services will be held at a later date at the family plot in Prospect Cemetery, Brackenridge, PA. In memory of Gus, the family suggests donations can be made to the Veterans Support Center of Michigan. 44444 Mound Rd #100, Sterling Heights, MI 48314.
