Gerald F. Berney, age 95, of Powell, died January 28, 2017.

He was at peace with everyone, especially his Lord. He lived a full life and enjoyed every minute. He was a person who treated everyone with fairness and respect. He was a lifelong member of Lincoln Park United Methodist Church, where he met his wife, Mickey. They were married at Lincoln Park United Methodist Church, where they recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary surrounded by their loving family.

Gerald and his wife lived life to the fullest. They traveled to England and Switzerland, and visited the home of Paul and Emily Berney, his grandparents, in Vallée de Joux, Switzerland. They also traveled all over the United States and Canada. He also loved his Tennessee Vols and even traveled to the 1940 Rose Bowl.

He retired from Beaty Chevrolet after 36 years of service. His favorite thing, though, was to be with his relatives and church family. Even though he won't be with us physically, we will always feel his spirit which will sustain us.

Preceded in death by parents, Paul and Nellie Berney; uncle and aunt, Francis and Sara Berney, who raised him after the death of his mother; brothers and sisters, Bud, Paul, Jewell, and Margie; and children, Steve, Melissa, and Sara.

He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Mickey Berney; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny (Betty) Berney and Pat (Barbara) Berney; sister and brother-in-law, Alice (Bill) Ewing; grandchildren, Allison, Christian, Karen, and Kim; great-grandchildren, Craig, Stephen, Chase, Conor, Eli, Caitlyn, Sydney, and Valerie; great-great-granddaughter, Cambree; and many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Stevens Mortuary, with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m., Rev. Monty Walton officiating.

Family and friends will meet 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for a 3:00 p.m. graveside service and interment.
