Guadalupe Ochoa Acosta, 90, passed away Monday November 28, 2016 at her home.

Visitation will be today, Thursday December 1, 2016, from 2 o'clock until 5 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel and the prayer vigil at 6 PM at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 o’clock Friday morning at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church with Fr. Manuel F. Ibarra officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Guadalupe was born February 21, 1926 to Maria Guadalupe and Simon Ochoa in Smeltertown, Texas. She married Alfredo Acosta November 27, 1949 in La Mesa and had been a Deming resident since 1951 coming from Anthony where they established farming in the Lewis Flats area. She was a homemaker and was respected for her asadero cheese and her red chili. “Lupe” as she was affectionately known was a communicant of Saint Ann’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by 2 sons, Alfredo Jr. Acosta and companion Rosie, Manuel Acosta and wife Irma all of Deming; 3 daughters, Mary Salazar and husband Nacho of Albuquerque, Martha Valtierra and husband Arturo, Sylvia Valtierra and husband David all of Deming; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents, Simon and Maria Guadalupe Ochoa; husband, Alfredo Acosta; brother Pete Ochoa and stepson Alfredo Montanez.

Serving as pallbearers are Mikie Valtierra, Armando Acosta, Manuel Acosta Jr., T.J. Valtierra, Alfredo Acosta III and Ralph Luna.

Honorary pallbearers will be Naomi Salazar, Monica Calvillo, Cristina Acosta, Sonia Salazar, Claudia Vasquez, Karina Acosta, Teresa Montellano and Patricia Bolanos.
