Franklin K. Benthien, age 89, a Mishicot resident, entered into eternal life, Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Manitowoc Health Care Center. Frank was born May 14, 1927 in Mishicot to the late John and Laura Dose Benthien, and has been a lifelong area resident. He attended the Mishicot High School and served his country in the United States Navy. He married the former Dolores Ann Lambert on November 10, 1951 in Tisch Mills. He was employed by the Manitowoc Shipbuilders Co. and enjoyed farming. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot where he coached basketball for 15 years. He was also a member of the Mishicot VFW Kempen-Staudinger-Terens Post # 7753. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife: Dolores, three daughters and two sons-in-law: Debra and Richard Hughes, of Finland, Sherry and Larry Pearson, of Whitelaw, Jeannie Benthien, of Chicago, one son and two daughters-in-law: Bruce and Karen Benthien, of MO and Cheryl Benthien, of Mishicot, 3 grandchildren: Lisa (Mike) Mendez, George and Mary Pearson, 3 great-grandchildren: Aaron, Jaden, and Logan, one brother: John Benthien, of Two Rivers, one sister: Ellenora Fisch, of Hilbert, and by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Paul Menges, of Larrabee, George and Dorothy Lambert, of Oshkosh, Carol Benthien, of Manitowoc, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sons: Brian and Dean Benthien, three brothers: Fred, William, and Edward, two sisters-in-law: Carol Menges, Elaine Benthien, one brother-in-law: Kenneth Fisch.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot, with the Reverend John Becker officiating, with burial to follow at a later date in the parish cemetery.
