Muncie - Donald V. Satterfield, 79, passed away on Thursday evening, February 2, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on November 23, 1937 in Muncie, the son of Van and Ruth (Woods) Satterfield, graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1956 and played basketball for the Muncie Central Bearcats. Donald served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. On November 13, 2013 he married Jencie L. Sharp.
Don was a truck driver for Marsh Supermarket for 30 years until his retirement in 1999 and was a member of Cowan Christian Church where he served as an elder, taught Sunday School and lead the youth group. His family, faith and church were extremely important to him.
He enjoyed baseball and was an extreme Reds fan and loved to dance. He and his wife, Jencie were also Texas Snowbirds where they danced and had many friends.
Surviving are his wife, Jencie L. Satterfield of Muncie; one son, Robert Satterfield of Muncie; one daughter, Kelly Sams (husband, Gary) of Gillette, WY; five grandchildren, Cheyenne, Savannah, Katie, Evan and Travis; one brother, Dale Satterfield (wife, Suzy) of Indianapolis; one sister-in-law, Joannie Satterfield of Muncie; two step-children, Toni Foltz (husband, Bruce) of Muncie and Troy Smith (wife, Melanie) of Losantville; seven step-grandchildren, Braden, Danielle, Michelle, Brian, Janelle, Jacqueline and Shelby; nineteen step great-grandchildren and two step great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 52 years, Joyce Elaine (Tuttle) Satterfield on January 22, 2013; one daughter, Holly Allison Satterfield; and one brother, David Satterfield.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at The Meeks Mortuary, Washington Street Chapel with Pastor Larry Delaney officiating. Burial will follow in Saunders Cemetery, Daleville.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary, Washington Street Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017 or one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
