Note: No burial record has been found for John, but he lived in Plaistow, NH when he made his will, and his death was recorded in neighboring Salem, NH; he is therefore likely buried with his wife in one of the ancient cemeteries in one of these towns. His New Hampshire death records are transcribed copies that give an erroneous date of 7 March 1759, which is impossible since he made his will on 17 June 1759. It was proved 4 Jan 1760, so he likely died in the last half of 1759.

John, the son of Samuel Watts and Elizabeth Ayers of Haverhill, Mass., was married in Haverhill 10 March 1708/9 to Sarah DUSTON, b. Haverhill 4 July 1688, living in 1759, the daughter of Thomas Duston and the famous Hannah Emerson Duston. John was called of Plaistow in his will, dated 11 June 1759 and proved 4 Jan 1760. In it he mentioned his wife Sarah, all of his living children, and two of his deceased children. Children, all b. Haverhill:

* Mary, b. 7 March 1709/10, d. Haverhill 25 Dec 1725

* Sarah, b. 21 April 1711, d. 1777, m. Jonathan CLEMENT; she was called Sarah Clement in her father's 1759 will.

* Henry, b. 13 Feb 1713, d. Haverhill 14 Feb 1716

* Samuel, b. 7 April 1716, m. (1) Haverhill 15 Jan 1740 Abigail HALL, b. 1722, d. Haverhill 13 April 1759, daughter of John Hall and Mary Kimball; m. (2) Haverhill 2 Oct 1759 Elizabeth "Bettee" Haseltine. Samuel was one of two living sons mentioned in his father's 1759 will. Samuel had nine children with his first wife, and three more with the second. A FAG memorial has been created for Abigail in Bradford.

* Elizabeth, b. 25 Jan 1718 [/19?], d. Salem, NH 12 Sep 1754, m. Haverhill 13 Sep 1737 John CURRIER, Jr., b. Haverhill 23 Nov 1708. d. Salem 23 Jan 1790, son of John Currier. Elizabeth had five children named in her father's will: Hannah, Nathaniel, Dudley, James, and Simeon. Elizabeth and John both have extant grave markers in the Cemetery at Hale's Bridge, North Salem, NH.

* John, b. 6 Oct 1719, dead by June 1759 when "John's Heirs" were mentioned in his father's will. m. Haverhill 14 Aug 1746 Elizabeth CLEMENT, likely the one b. Haverhill 17 May 1724, daughter of John Clement and Elizabeth Kimball, and brother to Sarah's husband, Jonathan Clement. They had one daughter baptized in Haverhill 28 June 1747, and a son who was mentioned, but not named, in the 1759 will of John's father.

* Hannah, b. 15 Dec 1722, probably died young. She is not mentioned in her father's 1759 will.

* Peter, b. 22 Nov 1724, d. Haverhill 27 Jan 1727/8

* Mehitable, b. 31 Jan 1726/7, m. 1744 Obadiah EASTMAN, b. Haverhill 17 April 1720, d. Salem, NH 28 March 1767, the son of Ebenezer Eastman and Sarah Peaslee. Mehitable and Obadiah had seven children born in Salem, NH from 1745 to 1762, according to the published Eastman genealogy. Obadiah was buried in a cemetery in the south part of Salem. Mehitable likely remarried following the death of Obadiah.

* Nathaniel, b. 7 Jan 1727/8, was named the executor of his father's June 1759 will.

* Mary, b. 6 Jan 1730/1, m. Joshua WEBSTER V, b. Kingston, NH 3 May 1729, the son of Joshua Webster and Abigail Weldon. A web source gives Joshua's death as 1801 in Waterboro, Maine. A Joshua Webster appears on the 1790 census for Waterboro.
