Miss Hattie Scruggs, age 61, died Tuesday afternoon, June 30, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Joe Maddux, with whom she had made her home for sometime. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday evening in
the Methodist Church in Stonewall, by the Rev. Hudgens. She was a devoted member of the Methodist Church. Born with an affliction from which she had suffered a lifetime, she born her suffering with
amazing fortiturde and patience. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Maddux, Mrs. Cleve Fuqua of Gordonsville, Mrs. Calvin McDonald of Murfreesboro, two brothers, John and Will Scruggs of Gordonsville.
