Services for Albert Carstens Jr., 71, Norfolk, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. The Rev. Terry Buol will officiate with private burial in the Stanton City Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk.

He died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, at the Schuyler Hospital in Schuyler.

The son of Albert H. and Lydia (Schwindt) Carstens Sr. was born Oct. 23, 1945, in Norfolk.

When Albert was younger, he was involved in Boy Scouts and participated in the Special Olympics in Norfolk.

He attended grade school at Jefferson in Norfolk and Norfolk High School.

He married Tia Warren on May 23, 1997, in Columbus.

Throughout Albert's life, he worked at Henningsens Foods, Wal-Mart, Y.M.C.A, Wells Fargo, Henning Bakery, Ballantine's and also at the Christ Lutheran Church as a custodian with his parents. He also worked at Zenith at Sioux City, Brick and Tile at Mason City, Iowa, as a guard.

Albert's hobbies were sports, especially football, baseball and fishing.

Albert moved to Columbus in 1996.

He was a past member of Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk.

Survivors include his spouse, Tia Carstens of Columbus; a brother, Eugene Carstens of Norfolk; a sister, Vera Miller of Norfolk; and a sister, Shirley (Marvin) Pospisil of Norfolk.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lydia; a brother, George Carstens Sr.; a sister, Donna Appel; nephews Tom Carstens and Joe Carstens; and nieces Cheryl Pospisil and Lisa Faust.

Recorded music will be "How Great Thou Art," "Amazing Grace" and "In The Garden." Casketbearers will be Art Warren, Bubba Maxwell, Phillip Kucera and Jeremy Kucera.
