Die Herzoger lists his wife as Agnes Faller (?-1887) but he actually married three times. His three wives were (1) Elizabeth Bader(?-?), (2) Agnes Faller (?-1887), and (3) C. Elisabeth Schmeltzer (1831-?).
Elizabeth Bader was listed as the mother of Peter J. Dreiling when he married Dorothea Bauer in Russia. Agnes Faller was listed as the mother of Mary Dreiling Geist on her St. Fidelis death record. Johannes died about two years after his third marriage and there were no children from it.
Johannes Dreiling and Agnes Faller had other children including a son Alexander (1877-aft. 1930) who remained in Russia. There are letters preserved from this family originally in German and were translated into English by Lawrence Weigel. He refers to Peter J. Dreiling as the half brother to both Alexander and Mary, confirming that Peter had a different mother than them.
