Ada Mae (Hopkins) Mander, 83, of Mays Landing passed away quietly at home on Thursday, January 26, 2017 with her family by her side.

Born in Malaga, NJ, she graduated from Clayton High School in 1952 where she was a cheerleader and played in various sports. She graduated from Glassboro State Teacher’s College in 1956. She was a teacher who taught at Vineland State School and Mays Landing Elementary School. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Mays Landing and served on various committees.

Ada, along with her late husband, Robert, loved traveling throughout the USA. After the passing of her husband she continued traveling the US, Europe, and Australia.

Daughter of the late Harry and Margaret Hopkins, she was predeceased by her husband Robert. Ada is survived by her two sons Robert Mander, Jr. of Millville and Lawrence Mander of Mays Landing, her three grandchildren Jessica, Joy, Isaac, and her great grandson Jeremiah; three nieces and six nephews; sister Dorothy Hopkins and sister-in-law Joann Hopkins both of Vineland. She was predeceased by her brothers Harry Hopkins of Pitman and Alfred Hopkins of Vineland.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2017 10:00 AM to 12 Noon at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street Mays Landing where services will be held at 12 Noon. Burial will be at the Union Cemetery in Mays Landing immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be sent to First United Methodist Church of Mays Landing, 6011 Main Street Mays Landing, NJ 08330 or to Compassionate Care Hospice 261 Connecticut Drive, Suite 1, Burlington, NJ 08016.
