Prudence Opal Short passed away in San Dimas January 30 at the age of 99. Prudie was born September 12, 1917 in Ontario California, and had lived in San Dimas since 1923. Her parents were Charles E. Mohr and Mabel McGregor Mohr.

She was a 60 year member of the San Dimas Wesleyan Church, serving in various capacities over the years, and also was active in many civic areas, including serving as an Ombudsman for the city, and a Senior Commissioner from 1995 to 2010. In 2015 she was recognized by the city as a Community Hero during San Dimas Day at the Los Angeles County Fair. She was active in missionary work, including time spent both in the border towns of Mexico and also in the Philippines. In recent years, she could often be found at the Senior Center in San Dimas. She had three children, Clifford Henry Short, Dorrine Ruth Nay, and Barry Evan Short, four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Walker Short, in 1969, and her son Clifford in 2002. A memorial service will be held at the San Dimas Wesleyan Church, 125 East Gladstone St., on Saturday February 11 at 10:30 AM, followed by interment at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora.
