Catherine was a daughter of Christopher and Catherine Hartman. She married in Washington Co., Pa. on March 28, 1796 to Joseph Decker. They lived for a time in Washington Co., and then moved on to Guernsey Co., Ohio where they lived out their lives.
From the Biographical Record of Harrison County, Ohio, 1891 (pg. 304):
" Joseph Decker, the grandfather of the Deckers now resident in Harrison County, was born January 25, 1779, in Maryland. He married Miss Kate Hartman, in Washington, Penn., where he carried on farming until 1814, when, with his family, he came to Ohio and settled in Guernsey County, purchasing a farm in the wilderness. The journey was made in a wagon, which served as a dwelling place, both on the road as well as while their cabin was being erected. The family consisted of John, Lewis, Henry, Sarah Ann, Kate, Mary, Delilah and Elizabeth. In his politics Joseph Decker was a Democrat, and he took a prominent part in the organization of his newly adopted county. Here, after a long and useful life, he and his helpmeet passed away."
