Lila Lorene Adams, 89, passed away December 1, 2015. She was born in Athens, Alabama and lived most of her life in East Ridge, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. George L. Adams; son, Rev. Doug Adams; parents, Ilie and Gertie Holt and brothers, Calvin and Marshall Holt. Survivors include her son, John Adams; daughters, Elaine Sutherland and Dee (Fred) Schwarz; sisters, Lola Alison, Dorothy Sanders Doris Spray and Shirley Green; brother, Lawrence Holt; grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; close friends and neighbors, Cheryl McClendon, Don and Mary Newman and Mary Hancock.
Lila was a member of the Baptist Faith and worked for many years in the Shoe Department at Miller Brothers Department Store. She is most known for her love for the Lord and being the "Best mother in the whole world" – always teaching her children the true values of life.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM CST on Friday at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, TN with Harold Spray officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, TN.
