Miss Margaret S. Allen, 72, of 1655 Arizona St., died unexpectedly Thursday at 11:45 a.m. at her home.

She was born in Oshkosh on March 31, 1900, daughter of Lawrence and Sarah Allen, and had served on the Oshkosh Library staff 40 years before retiring on March 31, 1957. A graduate of the Wisconsin Library School in Madison, Miss Allen had been hospital librarian for years.

She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Ladies Society and Mission Societies of the church, Third Order of St. Francis and American Library Association.

Surviving are one brother, Daniel Allen, Oshkosh; and one sister, Miss Dorothy Allen, Oshkosh.

Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, with the Rev. Roger McClone officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at Marquardt Funeral Home today from 6-9 p.m. The rosary will be recited this evening at 7:30 o'clock.
