Anna Mae Brue, age 81, formerly of Poynette, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Seasons of Life Hospice House in Woodruff, Wisconsin.

Anna Mae was born on June 10, 1933 in Portage, Wisconsin, the daughter of Nicholas and Loretta (Hoftender) Portzen. She was married to Kenneth Brue on January 3, 1953 in Portage. He preceded her in death on January 6, 1984. Anna Mae later moved to Swamsauger Lake near Minocqua with her longtime companion and life partner Jack Martinson. She had worked for the State of Wisconsin, Department of Transportation from 1958 until she retired. Anna Mae was a member of St. Francis of Assisi in Tripoli, WI was a former member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Poynette. She was also a life member of the VFW, Poynette.

She is survived by her longtime companion, Jack Martinson, Tripoli; a special nephew, Dane (Roxann) Brue, Poynette who was raised by Anna Mae and Kenneth Brue; her non-biological daughter whom she loved like her own, Laura (Mike) Stone and their daughter Geneva, her very dear friends, Shirley Baek, Phillips, WI and Wanda Cossack of FL. Many other nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth, her brother, Robert Portzen, and many others that shared her life and unconditional love.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 5209 Willow Road, Tripoli, WI 54564, with Fr. John Anderson presiding. The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette is assisting the family.
