When DeWitt Clinton Cary was born on February 22, 1925, in Waukegan, Illinois, his father, DeWitt, was 24 and his mother, Anna, was 19. He married Patricia Jane Milligan and they had one son together. He then married Joanne Marjean Smith on June 30, 1961, in San Diego, California.
Cary died peacefully January 11th, after a brief fight with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joanne and his brother Howard.
He is survived by his son John, two grandsons, and six great-grandchildren.
Cary served in both the USMC and the USAF. He worked for 30 years at the Naval Electronics Lab in Point Loma. He was a life member of Southwestern Yacht Club and served as Commodore in 1978.
Cary enjoyed living at the Meridian where he could easily visit his friends in the area. A world traveler, he always said "Living in San Diego is like being on vacation all the time".
A celebration of life will be held at the Southwestern Yacht Club followed by a scattering of ashes at sea. Date and time will be announced.

DeWitt could be seen walking daily in Downtown San Diego and chatting with neighbors every afternoon over coffee at the corner of First & G.
He will be missed by many friends.
