She was born in Logan, W.Va., and lived in Elyria for 41 years.
Mrs. Adkins was employed by The Chronicle Telegram, Elyria, for more than 15 years, retiring in 1991.
She was a member of New Haven Baptist Church, Sheffield Village. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, quilting, rose gardening and listening to gospel music.
Survivors include her daughters Karen Blakely and Judy Karbowniczek, both of Elyria, and Tammy Smith of North Ridgeville; son, Jeffrey Adkins of Elyria; brothers Noah Lee Adkins of Garrettsville, James Adkins of Van, W.Va., and Danny Adkins of Thailand; 17 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Damon Adkins, in 2006; son, Dwayne Adkins, in 2005; daughter, Virginia Armstrong, in 1998; and her parents, Scott and Aquila (nee Jackson) Adkins.
Friends may call Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at New Haven Baptist Church, 5290 French Creek Road. The Rev. Richard White, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
