Private First Class Ronald Devone Griffin was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, PFC Griffin served our country until April 21st, 1968 in Binh Hoa, South Vietnam. He was 18 years old and was not married. Ronald died from an undetermined explosion. His body was recovered. Ronald was born on September 11th, 1949 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Ronnie was a High School friend: It was a fine warm spring day in April of '68. We were sitting in homeroom class in our senior year at Garinger High. The announcement came over the intercom that Ronnie had been killed. I'll always remember that he was a good guy, and my friend. Ronnie was the 1st of several friends of mine that were killed in that politician's war. Though I joined the infantry in October of '68, I was among the few who were spared Vietnam. Ron & I were kids together - he lived up the block. I moved away before we finished high school, but friends wrote to me that he had been killed in Viet Nam. I remember playing ball with Ron in his front yard and just doing normal kid stuff. I also remember times I wasn't so nice to him, and for that I'm sorry. Thanks for all you gave for all of us Ron.
