Lula passed away when I was 16-years-old on Halloween. She was found slumped over her sewing machine by her husband, Leo. She had already passed. She loved sewing and would make me clothes. Leo stayed in the home after she died. Darrell, their oldest son became his guardian after his siblings stripped the house of anything of value. He brought in a caretaker, to help watch over him. Leo had Alzheimer's later in his life. Lula and Leo came to San Diego after following Darrell when he joined the Marine Corps. They bought a small house on Reynard way. Darrell got his contractors license and built apartments on the back of their property that subsidized their income. Kay and Karen grew up in the house on Reynard Way, and Darrell built them a play house. Later when Kay was an adult he built it for her again and she put it on her property in Fallbrook.###----Jerrie Dean
