Roger Oren Bean, age 61, of Mattoon passed away at 10:26 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Mattoon Healthcare.
Funeral services for family and friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Latson officiating. Burial with Military Rites will follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Roger was born on November 12, 1955 in Jefferson, IL the son of Thomas and Berdena (Scott) Bean. He married the love of his life, Sali Jordan on September 14, 1984. She preceded him in death on July 11, 2014.
Survivors include his daughters, Barbara Beliz (Matt Sinclair) of Salt Springs, FL, Terri (Jerehmy) Vaughn of Arcola, IL and Kimberly Dobbs of Mattoon, IL; grandchildren, Trevor Watkins, Brooke Beliz, Alex McGuire, Nicholas Vaughn, Ethan Beliz, Hope Dobbs and Jerehmy Vaughn Jr.; great grandchild, Roman Beliz; sister, Carol (Marcus) Collins of Indianapolis, IN; step mother, Nedra Rauch of Mattoon, IL; two nieces and one nephew. In addition to his wife, Roger was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter Macee Dobbs and canine companion, “Max.”
Roger served honorably in the United States Navy for two years. He was a truck driver for many companies for over 20 years. Roger enjoyed shooting pool and was an avid Cardinal’s fan. Most of all, Roger cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
