A double funeral for James Robert Fariss, 77, and his wife, Mary Frances Pack Fariss, 69, of 443 Kibler Valley Road, Ararat, who died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005, in an automobile accident, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Howell Funeral Chapel of Mount Airy, N.C. The Revs. Charles Moore and J.D. Belton will officiate. Burial will be in the Pack family cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. today at Howell Funeral Home of Mount Airy. James Robert Fariss was born June 26, 1928, in McDowell County, W.Va., a son of the late Emet and Olevia Bennett Fariss. He also was preceded in death by a brother, John Paul Fariss. He was an Army veteran, retired from Fieldcrest Mills, and he was of the Primitive Baptist faith. The couple's survivors are a daughter, Shelby Willis of Ararat; two sons, Jimmy Fariss of Stuart and Steve Fariss of Ararat; and five grandchilden. He is also survived by a brother, Tom Azalea Fariss of Tobaccoville, N.C. Mary Frances Pack Fariss was born March 4, 1936, in Patrick County, and was a daughter of the late Jim and Wavie Ada Pack. She also was preceded in death by sisters, Elsie Nunn, Emma Jean Jessup, Ola McCormick and infant sister, Sadie Pack; and brothers, Sanford Pack, Falis Pack, Tommy Pack and an infant brother, Riley Pack. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by two sisters, Bessie Horton of Claudville and Dora Bowman of North Wilkesboro, N.C.; and a brother, Clifton Pack of Ararat.
