She was born on August 11, 1925, in Holmes County, MS. She was born to the late Carrie and Willie Ambrose.
She attended school at Georgeville Community School House.
She joined Georgeville United Methodist Church at an early age.
She was a member of the Singing Convention.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard Tate, Sr.; (3) sons Rayford, Carter, and John Tate.
She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted sister, Classie Mae (Wesley) Groves of Goodman, MS; (1) brother, Ernest (Annie Ruth) Ambrose of Waterloo, IA; (3) sons, Leonard Tate, Jr., and Howard Tate of Kenner, LA; Robert (Betty) Tate of Hattiesburg, MS; (4) daughters, Johnnie B. Smart, Maude (Ralph) Carter of Chicago, IL; Mable Butler, Cora (Freddie) Deere of Goodman, MS; (18) grandchildren; (17) great-grandchildren; (2) God-children, Mary Lee Seymour and Elmon Brooks.
Also, she leaves to cherish several nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.
