Pfc. Valerie R. Gamboa from San Antonio, Texas worked in the 1st Perscom's personnel, or S-1 division. She had spent a short time working in the casualty section, dealing with documents pertaining to soldiers killed while on duty. Valerie had been happy in Germany, impressed with the castles and the beauty and had loved the travel to Spain, France and the Netherlands. She was athletic, very sociable and possessed the drive and imagination needed to take her all the way from the west side of San Antonio to the boulevards of Paris. She was a victim of homicide at age 19.
