Agar was the son of Raymond H & Fannie(Keys) Brown. He spent his childhood in Denver, Colo. & Glendale, Calif. As a young man he lived in the wilds of Alaska. He worked for Shell Oil Company of California, was a field engineer for Bireley's Bottling Company of Hollywood, Boston and Chicago, and, during World War II, he built attack planes and bombers for the military. After the war, he became national secretary of the Golf Course Superintendents' Association, owned a restaurant in Sycamore, and ended his working career in 1982 as an assistant to the Kane County clerk in Geneva.
Married Margaret Langell June 22, 1940, had a son Agar Langell Brown (1947-2003)
