Dorothy Marie Abbott, age 85, of Science Hill, KY, departed this life on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Somerset Nursing and Rehab.
Dorothy was born on June 8, 1931 in Burnside, KY to the late William Harrison and Ella Frances Craig Loveless. She was a Welder at Lear Siegler for ten years. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, fishing, her dogs and being a homemaker. Dorothy was a member of Valley View Church of God.
She is survived by two sons, Eddie Wayne (and JoAnn) Abbott of Baldwin, MI and Larry (and Janice Singleton) Abbott of Science Hill; three daughters, Ruth Ella McMullin of Science Hill, Janice Elaine Shelton of Burnside and Vivian Nevels of Somerset; a special granddaughter, Malynda Nevels of Somerset; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy C. Abbott, whom she married on May 22, 1952 in Somerset, and he preceded her on August 10, 1994; four sons, Wilbur Don Abbott, Mitchell Ray Abbott, Gilbert Wayne Abbott and Lloyd Abbott; one brother, Jesse C. Loveless; and four sisters, Myrtle Mounce, Grace Ping, Rosie Ping and Bessie Loveless.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 11:00am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Lowell Gossett officiating. Burial will be in Somerset City Cemetery.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
