Violet Eva Abbott, 92 of Nevada, formerly of Ames, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at Story County Senior Care in Nevada.

Violet was born March 23, 1924, in Mankato, Minnesota the daughter of Lloyd Dare and Beulah Hinkel. She was united in marriage to William Abbott, in Denver, Colorado; they later divorced but remained friends. Violet worked as a nurse’s aide for the Story County Hospital and was a cook at the Starlight Village and TAVCO.

Violet is survived by her children: Diane (William) Berry of Murray, IA, John (Kathy) Abbott of Conway, AR; and Carol (Stan) Becvar of Nevada, IA; seven grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband; two sisters: Irene Johnson and Virginia Dare and a great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday February 25 at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Graveside services will follow at Center Grove Cemetery near Cambridge. Casual dress is requested.
