Old Soldier Passed Away at Family Home This Morning.

Robert L. Marshall, who for the past three years has been ailing, died this morning at 10:30 at the family home, four miles west of the city. Mr. Marshall was an old time citizen of this community, having come here in 1876 from Dayton, Penn. He was an old solider, having been a member of the 78th Pennsylvania. After his removal to this community he settled on a farm, and by steady industry and thrift had accumlated a goodly competence. He was 79 years of age at the time of death. He is survived by a wife and six children, three sons and three daughters. The children are Dr. W.A. Marshall of Salt Lake City, Fred Marsahll and Ed Marshall of this city, Mrs. J.L. Smith, of New Orleans, La., Mrs. Frank Squires of this city and Miss Edith Marshall, who is at home west of the city. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced, awaiting word from some of the children.

Mr. Marshall was a member of the United Presbyterian church of this city and a member of the local G.A.R. post. He had been an elder in the U.P. church for many years. Mr. Marshall was one of the best known citizens of Cowley county and was well liked by all who knew him. In his death the community loses a good man and the family a faithful husband and father.
