Gregory T. Franczyk, age 70 of Brighton passed away February 19, 2017 after medical complications. He was born in Detroit the son of Stanley and Isabelle (Mrszynski) Franczyk. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Barbara in 2016.

After graduating from Wayne State University, Gregory taught a variety of high school subjects and ultimately persued a career with 3M. He retired after 29 years in the Adhesive Customer Service Department. When not at work, he could be found repairing everything with 2x4s, adding finishing touches to his custom-built house, or finding creative ways to recycle and conserve electricity. Gregory was warm, kind, and told the same horrible “dad jokes” for decades. These past few years, he enjoyed every second of retirement with Barbara. He could often be found sipping coffee on the back deck, gardening, or putzing in the garage.

He is survived by his daughter: Erin (Michael) Skyring; granddaughter: Abigail; one sister: Georgian; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at St Patrick Catholic Church. In state at the church at 9:30 A.M.
