JOHN SCHWANTZ

CAUGHT COLD AT FATHER'S FUNERAL, DEATH FOLLOWS
Well Known Young Farmer of Newton Dies 2 Weeks after
Attending Burial of Father-Pneumonia is Cause

A cold which he contracted while attending the funeral of his father two weeks ago and which developed into pneumonia, caused the death of John Schwantz, a well known young farmer of Newton last night. Mr. Schwantz had been seriously ill for a week.

On May 11, Mr. Schwantz's father died and the day of the funeral was one of the worst of the year, a heavy rain falling and the air being chilled. The young man returned from the burial ground drenched and suffering from a cold and his condition became rapidly worse, pneumonia setting in a few days later.

Mr. Schwantz was 34 years of age and is survived by his wife and a family. He was one of the well-known farmers of the county and was making rapid progress in life. His death will awaken widespread sympathy.

The funeral will probably be held at Newton Monday afternoon.
