Leo Szabados, 69, former Brillion shoemaker, died at 3:40 p.m. Saturday at his home in the Town of Maple Grove, Manitowoc County, following a lingering illness.
Born in Austria, Aug. 17, 1886, he came to this country in 1910, settling near Newtonburg, Manitowoc County.
On June 10, 1919, he married Mrs. Anna Carstens Schwantz there, following which the couple moved to Brillion where he worked as a shoemaker until retiring and moving to the farm near Brillion.
Surviving are his wife; step-son, Reuben Schwantz, Rt. 3 Manitowoc; step-daughters, Mrs. Henry (Frieda) Bleichwehl, Rt. 2, Brillion, and Mrs. Louis (Alma) Bleichwehl, Milwaukee; and seven grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Max Cordulla, Chicago.
Services will be held at Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church, Brillion, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. V.J. Ziegler, pastor, will officiate, with burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Newtonburg.
Friends may call at the Luecker Funeral Home, Brillion, this evening and after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
