Herman Vogt, 92, of Rt. 1, Manitowoc, a lifelong resident of the
Town of Newton, died Sunday evening at Park Lawn Home, Manitowoc, where he had resided for 10 months.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Newtonburg. The Rev. A. T. Degner will officiate
and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Vogt was born Oct. 18, 1874, in the Town of Newton, son of the
late John and Sophia Dohse Vogt. In his early adulthood, Mr. Vogt
was a contracting carpenter. Later, he farmed until his retirement
in 1945.
Mr. Vogt held numerous offices in the Town of Newton and in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He married Caroline Hacker Dec. 12, 1895, in the Town of Liberty.
They observed their 70th wedding anniversary in 1965. She preceded him in death Jan. 11, 1966.
Surviving are a son, Roland, of Rt. 1, Manitowoc, two daughters, Mrs.
Walter (Mabel) Born, of Rt. 3, Manitowoc, and Mrs. Karl (Laurine)
Schramm, of Rt. 1, Manitowoc, a sister, Mrs. Ida Klemm of Manitowoc, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Edgar (Linda) Born, a son, Edmund, three infant children, two brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 4 p.m. Tuesday and at the church from noon Wednesday until the time of service.
